The General Study Plan

According to national university regulations each PhD or licentiate programme should have a General study syllabus (allmän studieplan or ASP), which should indicate the main content of the study programme, mandatory courses, specific entry requirements and any other regulations required. SUHF (Sveriges universitets- och högskoleförbund) recommends that it also includes what is normally required to obtain the degree, and that the ratio between coursework and thesis work is specified.

You should be able to find the General Study Plan for your programme on your University’s website, but you can also ask those responsible for research education about it. You should make sure you are aware if there are mandatory courses you need to take in your programme, or what other requirements there are in the General Study Plan.
